Grandma time!!

....Okay, so this obviously isn't my grandma, or anyone near her age. This is actually my teenage sister who asked me to make her "look old". I got the tips and tricks from the Youtube makeup guru Petrilude from his video Old Age Makeup Tutorial. I had to improvise because I didn't have dark colored cream foundation, so I used Sonia Kashuk's Arch It Brow Kit tinted eyebrow wax/cream with a brush... hahah. Silly I know... but hey, the results weren't so bad! I also used a bit of matte brown eyeshadow, concealer, and a brown eyeliner pencil for some other details.

Oh, if you're wondering what she looked like before the transformation...

My sister wears absolutely NO makeup, nor does she have any interest in it at all. As you can see here, her skin is pretty wrinkle-free as it should be for her age. Although you can't see her forehead, there are no wrinkles there either. After this transformation look, she replied, "I don't want to grow old!"    :'(

Anyways, this was the first time I tried out this technique and I had fun :)

My Goal for the year 2011

So my original intention on making this blog was to discuss/review products (old, new, etc.), show some ideas with looks, and everything related to makeup and the like. Most beauty bloggers blog about new collections and products, which I think is awesome! As for this blog...  I won't be doing the same.
I actually am starting a goal for myself starting the end of this week. My goal is to NOT buy any more cosmetics unless necessary until the end of this year, with the exception of mineral foundations and black eyeliners since those two can get used up pretty fast :)

As for eyeshadows and mascaras... I have a ton just waiting to get used up (lol)
And I would really like to try to finish just TEN products by the end of this year. It doesn't seem like much, but it takes me FOREVER to finish a product. Even mineral foundations take me a while since I don't use so much foundation.

This goal really is a big challenge for me, as I tend to purchase many products on my online impulse buys =X
C'mon, who can pass up on a good deal?!

So with that said, I feel like the direction of this blog will be headed towards my favorite products currently in my makeup stash right now, and maybe some everyday looks I put together. These are just some ideas :)

Wish me luck!

Earthy Look Using Urban Decay's Naked Palette + Stila Smudge Pot in Jade

After months of waiting for it to come back in stock, I finally ordered and received my Urban Decay Naked Palette yesterday from Sephora.com. I love neutrals so I was really excited to have it :)

This look was created using eyeshadows from the Naked Palette:

- Virgin (browbone)
- Naked (crease/blending color)
- Half Baked (Lid)
- Darkhorse (Crease/contour)

The eyeliners used are:
- e.l.f. Studio cream eyeliner in Black (Upper lashline)
- Stila Smudge Pot in Jade (Lower lashline + waterline)

Other products:
- Maybelline Define-a-brow Pencil in Dark Blonde
- Loreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara in Blackest Black

All pictures were taken in natural light through a window.

I hope you like it!

My Current Obsession - Stila Smudge Pots

So this past month I've been really obsessed with eyeliners. The product that I really enjoy using right now would be the Stila Smudge Pot. I have them in the colors Pomegrante and Jade. I purchased Pomegranate at a Nordstrom Rack for about $7-$8, which is a steal because they normally go for about $20 I believe... The Jade one was purchased on a discount site called All Cosmetics Wholesale for $9.99, which is also a steal! This site is awesome by the way... great service, fast shipping, and all products are 100% authentic and as described. You can also purchase these at Sephora, Sephora.com, Ulta, Ulta.com, or directly from Stila. Anyways... I just wanted to review these quickly and share with you how much I love them right now.

In short words,
Stila Smudge Pots are:
- Very pigmented
- Creamy
- Go on smoothly
- Smudge free once dried

In addition, Stila Smudge Pots can also be used as a cream eyeshadow, or cream eyeshadow base. I would use an eyeshadow primer before using them as a cream eyeshadow, just to prevent any creasing. These seriously last all day! Even after rubbing the swatches on my hand like crazy, they still won't budge.  I would take an "after" picture of them after being smudged, but they look exactly the same as they did before the rubbing!

I would describe Pomegranate as a cranberry-maroon color. It's definitely a maroon red with a purple undertone with micro sized reddish shimmers. It kind of reminds me of MAC's Cranberry eyeshadow.
I haven't worn this alone as an eyeliner yet, but as an eyeshadow cream it's great! I'd definitely use it as an eyeliner with complimentary colors to avoid looking like you've got swollen eyes though.

Jade is a gorgeous olive green with golden shimmers. I pretty much love any eyeshadow or eyeliner of this combo. Gold and olive green just compliment each other so well and I think it really brings out the warm tones in brown eyes (which I have).

The picture of the swatches really does these no justice! I apologize, but I took these shots in my room under a flourescent light because there is no sun outside right now :(
The sheen from the shimmers are absolutely amazing and I highly suggest you check these out the next time you're at a Sephora or Ulta :)

It's been awhile...

It's been awhile since I've blogged on any internet blogging site. Therefore, my blog design will be a default for a while-- simple and plain until I teach myself how to edit HTML codes again. Boo :(

Anyways, I just wanted to introduce myself and my new blog. My name is Elizabeth and I am your average everyday beauty junkie, makeup addict, whatever you want to call it. I created this blog so I can share my interest with others and just because it's something fun that I would enjoy doing. I've been wanting to create a beauty blog for quite some time now, but was hesitant knowing that there are already so many wonderful ones out there. But HEY! I thought to myself, yeah sure, there's many beauty blogs out there that might look like this one, but this one is MINE :)

...and Beauty and the Beastly Addiction was created.

So why this name? Well... it wasn't a name that immediately came right to mind. I had absolutely NO IDEA what to title this blog. I knew that I wanted to incorporate something beauty related to it, and then I thought of my favorite Disney princess of all time-- Belle from Beauty and The Beast. I realize that beautyandthebeastlyaddiction.blogspot.com may be a bit too long for a blog name (and a pain to type I must add), but I like it!

Wish me luck on this blog, I am looking forward to it and am excited to share my beastly addiction with you >;)
